CORPORATE EVENT PLANNING WI SERIES | How to Plan an effective Corporate Fundraiser

Corporate Fundraising has come a long way from the olden days.  Social media event blitzes have become the regular for any small business.  So, how do you compete? How can you get people to come to your event and shell out the big bucks to support your mission?  Here, we detail the best tips we know to generate buzz and create a perfect fundraiser for your organization.

1) Research Research Research!

Make a list of other organizations that also do fundraisers throughout the year.  Find out the dates of their major fundraisers. Last thing you need is for people to have to decide between your big event and another!  If you don't know the major organizations, often times places like United Way (dial 211 on your phone to be connected!) will help you out with this.

2) Create a list of ideas that are outside of the box.

Some great ideas we've done in the past for fundraisers are  fundraising with mystery boxes, scavenger hunts,  adult game nights, family game nights and more!  Think about your organization. What are you supporting? Can you relate your event to it somehow?  For example, if you are a Pet Rescue, maybe you would have a wag your tails dance off fundraiser.

3) Access past volunteers and reach out to them to be on the Event Committee.

Pick people with a lot of reach in the community (large followings on social media for example). This will help your event gain traction when you are ready for social media  call outs! Focus in on adding in the number of likes to your Facebook page too.  Social media is key for your ability to get people to your event! Don't let it lapse.  Consult graphic design and branding experts regarding how to make your brand come to life and garner positive attention.

4) Create a marketing team from your events committee.

Their sole purpose is to reach out and post about the event on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.  Be diverse in your marketing team by being sure you are representing different age groups and more!

5) Think locally to find talent to help achieve your fundraising goal.

Go to college campuses to find local artists, musicians, or other talent who may not otherwise have the ability to be able to showcase their talents.  Hold live auditions for your fundraising talent needs. You'll be surprised by the number of true talents out there who are just aching to play a live audience (and for a very small fee at that!)  Talk to them about exposure and play up the sponsorship element.

We know its not easy to create the perfect fundraiser. We consult all around the country to come up with sure fire strategies to create the best and most profitable fundraisers.  Feel free to contact Spirit & Style Events for any corporate event planning needs.
